Hollis "Hod" Loren Dean, 76, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, surrounded by his family at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.Hollis was born June 27, 1948, in Keokuk. He was the son of Harley and Margy (Sherman) Dean.Hollis graduated from Carthage High School and began working at Bill's grocery store, and then later a salesman for Nabisco where he spent many years.On July 1, 1967, Hollis was united in marriage with Alice Conn in Bowen, Illinois.Hollis went on to work as the advertising manager for the Journal Pilot. He was very involved in the Lions Club where he served as the president for a few years. He enjoyed playing golf and going to Cardinal games with his family. Hollis loved his music. You could always count on music playing somewhere when Hollis was around.Hollis is survived by his wife, Alice Dean, of Carthage; his two daughters, Dee Dee (Mark) Kahs of Quincy, Illinois, and Holly Bruns of Carthage; his grandchildren: Tyler Bruns of Carthage, Kyle (Kels
