Hollis "Hod" Loren Dean, 76, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, surrounded by his family at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.Hollis was born on June 27, 1948, in Keokuk, Iowa. He was the son of Harley and Margy (Sherman) Dean. Hollis graduated from Carthage High School and began working at Bill's grocery store and then later a salesman for Nabisco where he spent many years. On July 1st, 1967, Hollis was united in marriage to Alice Conn in Bowen, Illinois. Hollis went on to work as the advertising manager for the Journal Pilot. He was very involved in the Lions Club where he served as the president for a few years. He enjoyed playing golf and going to Cardinal games with his family. Hollis loved his music.
